Environmental Law in Focus: Webinar Series Announcement

The ‘Environmental Law in Focus’ mini-webinar series targets key environmental law and policy issues with a focus on building understanding, exploring the possibilities, and promoting law reform.  The fall series focuses on habitat and water: two ongoing areas of environmental challenges.  Join us for our bite-sized webinars (to go along with lunch).

Join us for two three-part webinar series on habitat law and management, and water law in Alberta. Each part will consist of a short webinar dealing with a specific aspect of the law, followed by a question-and-answer portion where you can ask an ELC lawyer your questions related to this topic. 

Habitat in Focus

The first webinar in this series ‘Habitat Management in Alberta’ will provide an overview of the relevant law and policy that governs habitat protection in Alberta. While this webinar will primarily focus on provincial law, we will also look at which federal laws play a role and how this jurisdictional overlap influences outcomes on habitat protection. The Wildlife Act, the Public Lands Act, and the federal Species at Risk Act will be in focus. Central law and regulatory reforms will be highlighted. 

Water in Focus 

 The first webinar in this series will bring the ELC’s review and analysis in relation to questions that were posed at our spring webinar, Water Availability Webinar: Proposed Water Act Amendments, and will provide an opportunity to answer some of the questions that came from the audience.
