Dr. Damilola S. Olawuyi is an associate in the Calgary office of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP, where he practices natural resources, energy and environmental law. He assists clients in navigating regulatory processes in the development of natural resource projects including oil and gas, mining, hydro, and clean energy. He has also been involved in energy project finance matters, including reviewing loan agreements, security agreements and considering registration and priority issues. Dr. Olawuyi has taught international environmental law as a senior lecturer in Nigeria and as a university research fellow at the University of Calgary. He was most recently a visiting professor at the China University of Political Science and Law, Beijing.
Dr. Olawuyi received a Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Law from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, an LL.M from Harvard University, and another LL.M from the University of Calgary, Canada. He earned his LL.B. from Igbinedion University, Nigeria, graduating in First Class Honors and his B.L. degree from the Nigerian Law School, also graduating in First Class Honors.
Dr. Olawuyi has served on the boards of several organizations including the International Law Association and the Calgary Center for Global Community. He is pleased to serve on the ELC Board as he believes in ELC’s mission to promote environmental education, stakeholder participation and sustainable development in Alberta and across Canada.
