Kara Tersen joined the ELC after having served as the Director, Philanthropy and Communications for the Alberta College of Art and Design which including being a member of the President’s Council. Prior to that, Kara was the Director, Development and Communications for the Nature Conservancy of Canada – Alberta Region. She was part of a national campaign team with the Nature Conservancy of Canada that raised over $500 million for nature, $100 million of which was raised in Alberta.
Kara is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (cfre.org) and an active member and former board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Calgary and Area. She served as the 2010 co-chair of the Calgary National Philanthropy Day luncheon and Philanthropy Awareness Week activities. She has served as a mentor and volunteer for a number of non-profit organizations.
Kara is passionate about nature and the outdoors, and can often be found with her rescue dog Ginger enjoying a hike. Kara also enjoys pursuing other activities, including traveling, golf, curling, writing, art and latin dance.
